Award-Winning Expedition & Wildlife Cameraman | Specialist Factual Director of Photography

As a hostile environments-trained expedition cameraman and wildlife cinematographer based in London, I bring a unique skill set to documentary projects spanning wildlife, science, expedition, and adventure programming. My background includes work as a lighting cameraman and director of photography across genres, from drama and commercials to wildlife and expedition filming in challenging and extreme locations.

With a degree in documentary photography and a highly trained photographic eye, I specialise in capturing the intersection of the natural world and human stories, focusing on positive engagement across species and geographic boundaries. My expertise includes expedition camera work, particularly in polar and mountain environments, with a strong foundation in climbing camerawork and adventure camera operations under the most challenging conditions.

Notable credits include Emmy award-winning “Our Planet,” BAFTA-winning “Planet Earth II,” and “One Strange Rock.” My science cameraman work includes programs like “Earth’s Natural Wonders” (for which I received a BAFTA nomination), as well as “Sky At Night,” “BBC Horizon,” and “Expedition Volcano.” I have filmed in diverse environments worldwide—from high altitudes and polar ice fields to rainforests, deserts, shallow seas, and open oceans.

My skills include:

  • Expedition Cameraman for remote and extreme environments
  • Wildlife Cameraman with expertise in animal behavior and conservation-focused storytelling
  • Science Cameraman for groundbreaking documentary and factual series
  • Experienced Lighting Cameraman for specialist factual, drama, and commercials

Expedition Medic Services for Film & Television Crews and Expeditions

As an experienced Expedition Medic and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), I bring specialized medical skills to high-stakes environments. Currently, I’m upgrading my associate ambulance practitioner qualification to the level of Paramedic (expected registration by April 2025), expanding my capabilities to deliver comprehensive expedition medical support for a range of challenging projects.

With a background in UK Mountain Rescue and a role as teaching faculty on World Extreme Medicine’s Wilderness and Expedition Medicine courses, I am well-versed in providing advanced, adaptable medical coverage for diverse expeditions. I regularly provide autonomous medical support at UK ultramarathon events and aid stations, offering solo fast-response coverage to keep athletes and participants safe.

In addition to on-the-ground support, I’ve presented at medical and expedition conferences on critical adventure medic topics, including goal setting, teamwork, human factors, and crew resource management within expedition contexts. My services include:

  • Autonomous Medical Cover for expeditions worldwide (EMT level, progressing to Paramedic level in 2025)
  • Expedition Medical Planning and Risk Assessment
  • Equipment Design and Participant Screening to ensure safety on remote, high-risk projects

For those seeking experienced expedition paramedic services to ensure the safety and health of film crews, TV productions, and expedition participants, I provide adaptable, professional support that is uniquely suited to the unpredictable nature of extreme environments.

Contact me today to discuss how I can support your upcoming adventure, film, or science expedition with expert medical coverage.

Remote and Hostile Locations Expert

Specialising in working in austere and extreme expedition environments, I’m a specialist in complicated rigging and access, emergent technologies, and generally staying alive where people shouldn’t. I’m a highly adept member of the camera crew with a background as an expedition medic and outdoors professional that allows me to focus on achieving the best possible outcome regardless of whether I’m sipping a flat white in a studio, or looking for wolves at minus 30 in a white out. Beyond my camera skills that contribute to my work as a wildlife and expedition cameraman, I hold many complimentary qualifications and endorsements including associate ambulance practitioner, swift-water rescue, advanced driving, industrial and rescue rope skills for vertical environments and various useful access skills for staying alive and thriving in the worlds harshest environments. I’m a highly competent skier, snowmobile driver, and mountaineer / climbing cameraman, and can regularly be found accessing, providing medical support and filming in some of the worlds harshest environments, including experience up to 7000m above sea level. I’m a particular specialist in high altitude and polar filming, where I excel at being cold, uncomfortable and mildly unwell whilst still achieving the expedition goals. To top this off, I’m HEFAT trained for working in conflict and disaster zones.
